Companies feeling cheated by the price limit of Corona vaccine- Kiran

The second phase of corona vaccination in India has started on 1 March. Now corona vaccine is also available in private hospitals. But the price of the corona vaccine has been kept by the government at Rs 250 per dose. No private hospital will be able to sell the vaccine at a higher price than this. After this, Biocon chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw has expressed displeasure over the government’s decision to fix the maximum price. Shaw says that after this ‘the vaccine companies are feeling cheated’.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw tweeted the report saying that “The price that the government has fixed for the corona vaccine is not enough to run the work. We are ending the vaccine industry instead of benefiting it”.

The vaccine will also be available in a private hospital

On February 28, news came that the central government has fixed the price of corona vaccine in private hospital at Rs 250 per dose. However, corona vaccination will be free at government centers. This price of the vaccine can also be changed till the next order comes. A dose of corona vaccine in private hospitals will cost Rs 250, which will also include a service charge of Rs 100. This decision has been taken by the National Health Mission and it is being sent to all the states and union territories.

Before the government released details about the cost of the vaccine, Dr. Srinath Reddy, chairman of the Public Health Foundation of India, told The Quint that, in a mixed health system, it makes sense to seek the help of the private sector. However, it is a debatable topic whether citizens should pay for it.

The second phase of corona vaccination continues from March 1

The second phase of corona vaccination has started in the country from 1 March. In the second phase, persons over 60 years of age and those above 45 years who suffer from serious diseases will be given Corona vaccine.
